Dear God
I have a New Year’s wish
A little New Year’s list
Of things to do
First you have to end all the wars
Make it so nobody kills anybody anymore
Then you have to feed
All those in need
And so many diseases
Well, you just pick one, and you find the cure
Dear God
What about the children?
Living in such pain
If you could make them smile
For a little while
How ‘bout pouring candy down like rain
And poverty
As far as the eye can see
Don’t tell me
That it has to be
Is it too much to hope for?
Am I not being fair?
Well, maybe just do some of it
And we’ll take it from there
Dear God
Every year I ask you
And you still haven’t made it come true
But maybe this year
Is the New Year
